SuperOak's click-lock hybrid planks are designed for easy DIY installation — no glue, no nails, no professional required. Here's your complete guide.

Tools You'll Need

  • Tape measure and pencil
  • Utility knife or saw
  • Spacers (1/4" for expansion gap)
  • Rubber mallet and tapping block
  • Pull bar for last rows
  • Straight edge

Step 1: Prepare the Subfloor

Ensure your subfloor is clean, dry, and flat (within 3/16" over 10 feet). SuperOak hybrid planks can be installed over concrete, plywood, existing vinyl, or tile — no moisture barrier needed thanks to the waterproof non-PVC core.

Step 2: Acclimate the Planks

Leave unopened boxes in the room for 48 hours. This lets the planks adjust to room temperature and humidity.

Step 3: Plan Your Layout

Measure the room and calculate rows. Start from the longest wall. Pro tip: Open multiple boxes and mix planks together. Each box has 30 unique 3D-printed patterns — mixing boxes creates the most natural-looking floor.

Step 4: Install the First Row

Place spacers along the wall (1/4" expansion gap). Lay the first plank tongue-side to the wall. Click each plank's short end into the previous plank at an angle and press flat.

Step 5: Continue Row by Row

Start each new row with the leftover cut piece (minimum 8"). Angle the long side into the previous row's groove and click down. Stagger seams by at least 6" for strength and a natural look.

Step 6: Finish

Use a pull bar for the last row. Install transition strips at doorways. Remove spacers and add baseboards to cover the expansion gap.

Pro Tips

  • Work left to right across the room
  • Never hit planks directly — always use a tapping block
  • Score and snap with a utility knife (no power saw needed for straight cuts)
  • The AC5 surface is tough, but be gentle during installation to protect click-lock edges
